Lincoln Minster School pupils excel in tennis tournament.
Two LMS teams (A&B) have played in a tournament in the league stages of the AEGON Team Tennis Competition. The other schools were representing Leicestershire and Derbyshire- Queen Elizabeth in Ashbourne and Leicester Grammar.
All teams played each other in a round robin, with both LMS teams playing exceptionally well against some very tough high-rated players from the other schools. Our B team were unbeaten drawing against the other two schools and only being beat by our A team.
The conditions were extremely difficult due to the wind, however, after warming up players soon got into the games.
The teams demonstrated outstanding team work, some fantastic shot selection throught out the matches and great sporting ethics. The whole day ended in a nail bitting tie-break shootout. All eyes were on the game with Rose and Bradley hoping to take the A team through to the next stages.
The students took us off to a flying start with a 3/0 lead with Bradley playing some impressive volleys and Rose hitting some great forehands onto the base line. The opposition then stepped up their game and a few nice shots on the sideline brough the score up to 6/5. LMS continued to battle for each point with the a lovely across court forehand being the final winning shot.
The A team now continue onto the next knock out stage of the tournament.
