Lincoln Minster school parent, Emma Francis will be heading to India this weekend to start a 450km charity cycling event in aid of three women's charities.
Mrs Francis will be flying out to Delhi, India this Sunday to start a 450km cycle ride following the 'Golden Triangle' - Delhi to Agra to Jaipur over the course of five days. The majority of the cycling will be between Agra and Jaipur on dirt tracks through small villages with temperatures around 30 degrees but Mrs Francis believes it will be the humidity that will be the hardest thing to become accustomed to.
Preparation for the charity bike ride in India has been in taking place over the past 18 months and over £3,2000 for three women's charities - Breast Cancer Care, Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust, and Ovarian Cancer Action - has already been raised by Emma.
Mrs Francis said of the trip:
"I have been plagued by injuries and illness the past few weeks so am not feeling as prepared as I would like to. However, two of the charities are very close to my heart as my mum had breast cancer and died of ovarian cancer. I want to bring more awareness to women of these cancers."
Good luck to Mrs Francis on her trip!
