An amazing week for Hockey...

Last week was a busy one for Hockey...

Starting on Wednesday with House hockey on the Lindum. It was decided to mix Years 5,6,7 & 8 so each House had two teams. The Lindum was split into four pitches and had 70 girls all playing throughout the afternoon. It was great to see and there was some brilliant hockey and teamwork. It was great to see the younger ones coming through but also lovely to see the older ones, such as Year 8 Frankie, nurturing the younger ones and making sure that they were all involved in play. Many thanks to all the staff who helped make it run smoothly.

The results were:

1st Gibson
2nd Nettleton
3rd Jackson
4th Jackson
5th Gibson
6th Learoyd
7th Learoyd
8th Nettleton

On Thursday the U13 girls went to Bedford to represent Lincolnshire at the East of England tournament, and they couldn’t have asked for a better start. Quickly settling, the team went on the attack beating the Hertfordshire team, Heathmount School 1- 0. The next two games were very close and we narrowly lost to Beeston Hall 0-2 and an impressive Perse School 1-4.

In the next round of matches playing for positions 9-12, the team had a tenacious end to end fight against Haileybury, which they won 3-2. A much improved game was played against Stamford and by half time they were drawing 1-1, some slick passes and an effective goal hanger saw LMS lose 1-4. However, heads and energy levels remained high for the final game against Framingham. It really was a game of two halves but with a 3-0 deficit to make up by half time  it was, unfortunately, just a bit too much.

This was the best result we have had at this level and really is a sound foundation to build upon for next season.
