On Friday 23rd November, 40 boarders and four staff members set off for a weekend in Edinburgh.
Heavy traffic on the way up meant a diversion through Newcastle giving the added bonus of a better view of the Angel of the North and the chance to see the Tyne Bridges lit up.
Saturday was spent exploring the old part of Edinburgh with the walk from the hotel giving a dramatic first glance of the Castle. Pupils were able to visit the various parts of the Castle with the dungeons and the Scottish Crown Jewels, including the Stone of Scone proving popular. In the afternoon we were able to delve into another aspect of Edinburgh’s history with a visit to Mary King Close giving a fascinating opportunity to see how everyday people used to live. For some the day wasn’t yet over as they found the energy to visit the Christmas market in the evening while others relaxed in the hotel (some even studying a little for the upcoming mocks!)
On the Sunday there was a chance to do some shopping on Princes Street with many students bagging Black Friday bargains before the journey back to Lincoln and some much needed rest.
