Last weekend volunteers from the Friends of Lincoln Minster School (FoLMS) as well as staff and pupils, gave up their weekends to raise money for good causes during the Lincoln Christmas Market.
Despite the freezing temperatures, the volunteers worked hard directing traffic from Wragby Road down to the Senior School playground which had been transformed into a car park to accomodate visitors to the popular Christmas Market.
A bargain at just £5 per car, the efforts made a total of £2407 - despite the market closing a day earlier than expected. The proceeds will be split between the Friends of Lincoln Minster School charitable projects and assisting pupils to participate in World Challenge which in previous years has seen them build schools, sanitation and water supplies in developing countries as well as take part in projects to protect the environment and conserve wildlife.
Thank you to the pupil, parent and staff volunteers for an impressive team effort.
A huge thank you also to FoLMS Interim Committee member and parent Russell Petit, who helped to plan the event. He said:
"This is the sort of initiative which consolidates the bonds between, students, staff and parents. It's also a lot of fun. Special thanks to Mrs Lormor, Stuart Burlton, Mr Eves and Mr Charles, without whom this would not have been possible."
