Year Eleven pupils received their results from the IGCSE Mathematics exams they took in January. Overall the results were very pleasing, with 84% of pupils gaining a grade 4 or higher – these are considered good passes. 19% of the pupils achieved a grade 8 or 9, equivalent to an A* on the old grading system, and 5 pupils achieved grade 9s – the highest grade on the new system and a real achievement. The Mathematics department will now tailor teaching for the remainder of the year with some students being able to start their A Level Maths studies while others continue to consolidate the IGCSE work.
In addition the first result from our BTEC/CTEC programme was received today - a Distinction for the first module of the CTEC Business Level 3 Certificate. The pupil concerned was very pleased as this is the highest level available and this result confirms that adding these qualifications to our Sixth Form offer is of great benefit to pupils.
