LMS Tennis Success

By Sophie Frater 22 May 2018 Sport

The LMS tennis teams have had an array of success in their recent matches across a variety of age groups and teams!

Under 15 Girls V Bourne Grammar

The girls team played extremely well in their first match of the season. Students, Phoebe and Harriet secured the first doubles match and both went on to win their singles matches, whist Meagan went on to win her singles match against Bourne's number 1 seed.  An excellent win for LMS 4-2.  A great start girls.

Under 15 Boys Tennis V Bourne Grammar

Oliver G, Will F, Tom C and Lawrence W played against the 2017 regional winners of the National School Competition in the first tennis match of the season for the boys tennis team.  It was always going to be a tough match and although the boys lost, overall, they played some fabulous points and games which bodes well for the future.

2nd Round of the National School Senior Competition (Aberdare Cup) V Sheffield Girls School

The second round started with rain delay with the score line at 6-3 (Number 1 pairing) 5-3 (Number 2 pairing) to LMS until the game was rained off.  A week later the girls continued their campaign which involved a number of tie breaks, unfortunately resulting in a 2-4 loss to LMS.  Well done to Rose T, Zoe M, Lorna B and Lauren L in their last match of the season.

2nd Round of the National Schools Senior Competition (Glanville cup) V Boston Grammar

Another wet day of tennis!  The boys starting team played some very tough matches of an extremely high standard.   The play consisted of some very hard hitting and accurate shots from each side.  The boys played exceptionally well but Boston were more successful at finding the lines on the day.  Well done in a well fought match boys.
