Mrs Thomas reflects on the school year

In my very first Prize Giving speech in 2013 I likened school/education to a great big blank canvas. This year, boys and girls you have thrown as much paint at that canvas as you possibly can.

You have thrown yourselves into your education making the most of the canvas of opportunity that you have been offered and you have painted the goals that you wanted to aspire to. Your learning is sound, creative and innovative and together with staff and parents it has become a reality. Your teachers and all school staff have helped you to achieve academic, sporting, cultural and lifelong learning. May I take this opportunity to thank the staff for their continued professionalism, excellence and dedication.

As a head teacher I am often asked what makes a good education. Of course it is many things, but the main part of my answer to such a question always remains the same. I think it is an education that focuses on values such as respect, which is very much the case at LMS. The development of those personal qualities is what makes a good education.

Throughout the year, we have respected and valued your talents and achievements, and again last week at Prize Giving. If you did not receive a prize be happy and show respect to those who did and if you did receive a prize respect the feelings of those who did not; your turn will come.

Finally, I would like to say thank-you to the whole school community for making the Pre-Prep and Prep such a great place to learn, work and enjoy.

Have a lovely Summer
