Year 11 pupil Orlagh Kirkwood has achieved outstanding musical success in recent weeks after winning three categories at the Lincoln Music Festival and achieving a high distinction in her grade 8 cello exam.
Competing against pupils of all ages from across the whole of Lincolnshire, Orlagh won first place in the “Best String Solo” and “Best String Repertoire” categories as well as the “Best Duet Class” alongside Tilly Holmes.
Orlagh was awarded the Tooley Trophy for her Best String Repertoire victory and was later invited to perform at the end of Festival Concert on Friday 24th March where she was awarded the Gordon Slater Instrumental Trophy for “Performer achieving the highest overall standard in Solo Instrumental Classes”.
Headmaster Mark Wallace said: “We are very proud of Orlagh’s recent success at the Lincoln Music Festival and with her grade 8 exam. Orlagh has achieved a distinction in all eight grades which is testament to her talent, hard work and dedication to music. Orlagh’s peripatetic tutor Mrs Hill must also be thanked as she has expertly tutored Orlagh from Year 7.”
