Prep School Head Teacher, Fiona Thomas recently travelled to China as part of a delegation organised by Lincolnshire County Council.
Over thirty delegates from local businesses, UK Central Government officials, educational organisations, agri-tech experts, and cultural organisations, joined together to establish partnerships in the city of Changsha, Hunan Province.
On behalf of Lincoln Minster Preparatory School, Fiona Thomas presented a vision for the partnership to the Provincial Deputy Director of Education and a team representing local Government. Later, Fiona signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Datong Primary School to develop partnership and enterprise projects.
During a visit to Datong Primary School Fiona observed lessons, met some pupils, was entertained with a performance and entered into lengthy discussions on how the two schools can mutually support one another and bring an international flavour to their curriculums.
“I feel very privileged to have been invited to be part of such an important delegation and the unique opportunity it presents for our pupils and staff. To be able to work on joint projects, as well as staff exchanges will extend opportunities for the Prep School and ultimately benefit our pupils in terms of learning and wider personal growth”, explained Fiona.
