Senior pupils compete in English Speaking Union competition

By Alison Eager 08 February 2019 English, Senior School News

Our team for the English Speaking Union had a wonderful competition on Tuesday evening.

Leo and Milly, Year 10 pupils, were our very able Questionner and Chair, assigned to a student speaker from The Priory Pembroke Academy, Cherry Willingham. They had to exercise tact and consideration when their speaker became very nervous and agitated, and Sara and I were very proud of them for doing so.

Amaya  was introduced and questioned on her chosen topic, a discussion on applying sanctions to countries who criminalise their LGBT community, by students from De Aston School, Market Rasen. She was an exceptional presenter and achieved a special award as 'Outstanding Personality' which was richly deserved.

The very worthy and gracious Year 11 winners were from Caistor Grammar School, speaking on the power of the media. It was a really interesting evening and the team were very excited at the end of it.

Thank you to Mr Wallace for coming along to support us!
