Summer Tanzania Expedition Begins!

By Sophie Frater 10 July 2018 Sixth Form, Trips

The summer holiday break is to consist of an exciting trip for 15 of our Year 11 and 12 students to Usa River, a town placed an hour away from Arusha, East Africa. The pupils will be working in a school during their trip called Sakila Secondary school, to help with the initial stages of renovating the school. Our pupils will be tasked with laying foundations for a new wall around the school for the safety of the pupils. Whilst on this trip, pupils will have the opportunity to visit lessons, work with pupils at the school and carry out day-to-day work such as cooking and cleaning. Pupils will also have to source their own foods from local markets and cook food on a daily budget.

The trip will also include a visit to Tarangire National Park to go on a safari within a region of 6,000 elephants! It is to conclude with a trek up Mount Meru to Socialist Peak, which is 4562m. Throughout their visit, the pupils will get the chance to enjoy the wildlife and views of Mount Kilimanjaro! You will be able to follow the trip on our social media channels.
