Our Young Enterprise team of Sixth Formers attended the County Finals held at the Showground on Tritton Road. They were there presenting their product A Little Taste of Lincolnshire, which is a hard-backed recipe book illustrating Lincolnshire’s eateries favourite dishes from their menus.
The group started with 20 Sixth Formers, eager to create a profitable business that also promotes and celebrates Lincolnshire's magnificent cuisine through a selection of recipes from the best pubs and restaurants in the county. By the end of the process, they had made a net profit of £1,160 and projected revenues of over £4000!
The team including Henry M, James T, James R, Lorna B, Louie S, Max H, Zoe M, Ted L and Issy O’R. They were hugely impressive in their presentation slot and their trade stand and it was remarkable to see that our YE group’s profits were more than the other seven schools combined totals.
In addition to this, their marketing campaign was hugely impressive, 'A Little Taste of Lincolnshire' appeared on three radio shows including BBC Radio Lincolnshire and Siren FM, promoting their book as well as having the Foreign Secretary sign a copy of the product and getting a foreword from celebrity chef Rachel Green. Their product also featured in Good Taste magazine, Lincolnshire Life and the Bailgate Independent.
It was deeply rewarding for the team to be acknowledged for all their hard work in receiving the Best Trade Stand, the Best Company Report and the Runners up awards. A huge thanks should go to Mr Thomas who has led the Young Enterprise group this year with support form their advisor, Steve Winn.
The process has been highly beneficial for all involved and has taught the team the practical side of business, as well as leadership and teamwork skills that are very relevant to their Business A level course.
